This will also mark the First Papal Visit to Ireland in 39 years - (St. John Paul II, in September 29, 1979.)
About World Meeting of Families:
A World Meeting of Families is an international gathering of people which aims to:
- Stress the role of family in society
- Applying the fruits of the Synodal process
- Celebrate the "family"
Many wonderful events will be taking place at the World Meeting, as well as throughout Dublin. That includes Liturgical and Cultural Events, Testimonies, Lectures, and Workshops during the week - as well as Special Masses and Events in the evening! Not to mention the Opening and Closing Celebrations, and Concerts.
The Theme for the World Meeting of Families is "The Gospel of family, Joy to the World!"
The hope is that the theme will contribute to emphasize the family's role as a stabilizing force in society. "The family is not just the object of the attention of the Church, but a "vital role" as real protagonists of renewal, and of the transition of faith to the coming generations" - Archbishop Diarmuid Martin - Dublin
For Information about your Diocese / Church Leading a Pilgrimage:
Now is the time for the families within your community to join together and share in this experience. Families from around the world will come together - and together, we will become entangled, in order to produce definitions of "Family". Family is such a transcultural value, that it cannot be defined simply. Family is about love, a love that enriches lives.
