Itinerary

Day 1 | Saturday, June 20: Depart Chicago for Rome

Make your way to your local airport, where you will board your overnight flight(s). Meals will be served on board.

Day 2 | Sunday, June 21: Arrival in Rome

Welcome to Rome, also known as “The Eternal City.” Upon landing at Rome airport, claim your baggage and proceed to the Arrivals Hall, where your tour guide and/or driver will greet you. Following check-in at the hotel, enjoy some free time to unpack, relax or explore Rome on your own. Your tour escort may suggest places to visit. Later this afternoon, your group will meet in the hotel lobby for a meet and greet with fellow pilgrims and your priest. You will depart together for Mass, and following Mass, you will attend a welcome dinner (on your own). After dinner you have to opportunity to join in a walk to St. Peter’s Square for the Rosary (optional).

Day 3 | Monday, June 22: Church of Gesu

Following breakfast, the group will head to the historic Church of the Gesù for a meaningful morning visit. Here, you will have the opportunity to visit the tomb of St. Ignatius and explore the chapel of St. Francis Xavier. The group will attend Holy Mass within this sacred space, adding to the spiritual depth of the experience. Time permitting, you may also visit the attached Museum and the Rooms of St. Ignatius, where you can view his study, bedroom, and chapel, and take a quiet moment to meditate in the very place where he wrote the Constitutions. Enjoy a lunch at local restaurant followed by free afternoon at your leisure and personal devotion.

Day 4 | Tuesday, June 23: Papal Audience - Basilica of St. John Lateran - Church of St. Ignatius at La Storta

This morning, we attend the Papal Audience in St. Peter’s Square or at the Audience Hall. The Audience is celebrated each Wednesday by His Holiness, The Pope (pending the papal schedule). Following this, the group will visit the Scala Santa (Holy Stairs) and the Basilica of St. John Lateran, taking time to reflect on Ignatius’ prayer and humility in these sacred spaces. The journey continues to the Church of St. Ignatius at La Storta, a site deeply tied to his spiritual mission. A group lunch will be enjoyed at a local restaurant, after which the afternoon and evening are left open for you to explore and enjoy on your own.

Day 5 | Wednesday, June 24: St. Peter’s Basilica and Vatican Museums

The morning begins with a visit to the Vatican Museums, followed by time to take in the majesty of St. Peter’s Basilica, where St. Ignatius placed the Society of Jesus at the service of the Pope. For those who wish, there will be an optional opportunity to climb the dome for breathtaking views over Rome. A group lunch will be enjoyed at a local restaurant, after which the remainder of the day is left at leisure for personal devotion and reflection.

Day 6 | Thursday, June 25: St. Paul Outside the Walls and Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola

After breakfast at the hotel, the group will visit the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, where Mass will be celebrated at the St. Ignatius Altar, offering a meaningful moment of prayer and connection. The day continues with a visit to the Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola (Chiesa di Sant’Ignazio di Loyola), where you can admire the magnificent ceiling fresco, The Triumph of St. Ignatius, a masterpiece that captures the spirit and mission of the saint. Farewell dinner will be on your own followed by restful overnight in Rome.

Day 7 | Friday, June 26: Rome Hotel – Rome Airport – USA

After breakfast at the hotel, the group will transfer to Rome airport for departure. With hearts full of memories and gratitude, you’ll board your flight back to the USA as your journey comes to a close.
