Itinerary

Day 1: Depart for Mexico City

Make your way to your local Airport where you will board your flight(s) to Mexico City. Upon arrival, you will collect your luggage in the baggage claim area and continue to the Arrival’s Hall where you will be greeted by your Guide. Porters will then take your luggage to the Van, and you will be escorted to your van that will transfer to the Presidente Intercontinental Hotel. Your bags will be brought up to your room where you will enjoy some free time to unpack and relax. In the evening, you will meet your group for private Cocktails, and a “Welcome Meeting”, allowing time to meet the other members of your group. After, you will make our way over to the restaurant for dinner and then retire to your room for a restful night’s sleep.

Day 2: Shrines of Mexico City – Culinary Lunch Experience – ‘Historical’ Mexico Tour – and a Private Tequila Tasting at Plaza Garibaldi

This morning, your day will begin with breakfast, followed by Mass at the Holy Family Church, where you will view the tomb of Fr. Miguel Agustin Pro, the Jesuit martyr. In a time of great religious persecutions, Fr. Pro was exiled from Mexico during the Mexican Revolution. However, he returned to Mexico and was aided by a secret ministry who helped him hide from authorities. During his time in Mexico, he assisted many individuals in their spiritual, as well as temporal, needs. He was eventually discovered, arrested, and killed by authorities. While at the Holy Family Church, you may pray to this great martyr who remained filled with the joy of serving Our Lord even amid very difficult times. You will also visit the small but very inspiring Museum dedicated in honor of Father Pro. There will be time for a prayer and a special blessing. Continue to Azul Histórico Restaurant to get enjoy a gastronomic experience made with the ingredients and culinary techniques of contemporary Mexican cuisine. From there, we will visit the Historical Centre, after this visit, you will tour the oldest and largest cathedral in all Latin America, the Metropolitan Cathedral. Throughout your time in the Cathedral, you will be overwhelmed by the stunning paintings, altar pieces, and statues. Continue the day with a visit to the Plaza of Santo Domingo. This plaza contains two Holy places that are architecturally exquisite; the Church of Santo Domingo, the first church built by the Dominicans in 1576 and the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary, the first Rosary Shrine in Mexico. Additionally, you will visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Covadonga, the headquarters of the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary. This Shrine is dedicated to the Patron Saint of Asturias (Spain). Finally, you will arrive at Plaza Garibaldi where you will partake in unique Tequila Tasting, and tour of the Museum. Return to the Intercontinental for a delicious dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Mexico City – Puebla: Tour of the City and Religious Art Museum

This morning, you will leave your bags outside your room for the porters to take them down to the van. Enjoy breakfast and then enjoy a spectacular drive to what is known as Mexico’s most beautify city – Puebla. On your ride, you will climb to over 10,000 feet above sea level, and view two magnificent peaks; one that is covered with snow and the other that is an active volcano. Upon arrival in Puebla, a gastronomical delight will be waiting for us in the form of lunch. Following lunch, we will visit Puebla’s Cathedral St. Dominic’s Church, and its Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary, along with the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, where you will view the incorrupt body of St. Sebastian of Aparicido. From there we will visit the Religious Art Museum at the ex-Convent of Santa Monica. This is one of the greatest examples of monastic life of women in Mexico, and the only one in the state of Puebla. It’s archive of sacred art dates back from the 16th to 19th centuries, primarily consisting of collections from four (4) old Convents: Santa Monica (Augustinian), Santa Catalina (Dominicans), Senor San Joaquin y Santa Ana (Capuchins), and La Soledad (Discalced Carmelites). After, we will go directly to the Banyan Tree Puebla, enveloped in charm and sophistication, where you will check-in. A welcome cocktail will be waiting for you at the roof top bar of the hotel – and then you will have the remainder of the evening to relax, and grab dinner on your own.

Day 4: Puebla: Private Cooking Class – Talavera de la Reina Workshop – Cholula – Wine Tasting Experience

Wake up in Puebla and enjoy the sunrise over this UNESCO Heritage City. Make your way to breakfast and then have some free time on your own. You will gather in the lobby and make your way to what will be a Private Cooking Class (lunch included). After, we will make our way over to the high-quality gallery and workshop Talavera de la Reina. Renowned throughout Mexico, and aboard as the artist Angelica extends her know how and talent to design several interiors of hotels and restaurants in both Mexico and United States. Not only is this Gallery class and elegant, but you will also learn more about the Talavera process for its famous pottery. From there, we will visit the town of Cholula – considered to be the oldest town of the America’s. Thanks to the brush and grasses that have overgrown its walls, the first man-made pyramid in the world has been mistaken for a hill. We will take in the Churches of Acaptepec and Tonanzinta before heading back to Puebla for free time to stroll through the streets and its markets. Dinner will take place at Lavadero Restaurant, along with a wine tasting. The remainder of the evening is at your own leisure.

Day 5: Puebla – Mexico City: Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe and San Juan Teotihuacan – Farewell Dinner

After breakfast, we will board our transfer and depart for the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Patroness of the Americas), by way of the Plaza of the Three Cultures. After, we will visit the Church of Santiago Tlatelolco where St. Juan Diego was baptized. This plaza is important as it symbolizes the unique blend of the pre-Hispanic, and Hispanic cultures that make up Mexico. Continue to the Shrine of Guadalupe, built in response to Our Lady’s request to the visionary, St. Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin. Upon arrival at the Shrine, you will celebrate Mass as you marvel at the brilliantly colored Basilica. Following Mass, you will joining a Private Tour Guide at the Shrine will take you on a journey through the Shrine – kneel in front of the “Tilma”, where Our Lady’s image was miraculously imprinted. Learn more about Our Lady and the history of la Villa. You will be given a beautiful bouquet of Roses to leave at the base of the Tilma, in honor of Our Lady – and for prayers of Family and Friends. Following this visit, upon arrival in Mexico City, we will stop for lunch at Hacienda Montecristo Restaurant. We will check back in to the Presidente Intercontinental Hotel and have some free time to relax and unpack. Tonight, you will gather in the hotel lobby and be transferred to a farewell dinner unlike any other. Arrive at the Five-Star Restaurant: Porfirio’s Restaurant or Agua y Sal Restaurant. Retire to your hotel for a restful night’s sleep.

Day 6: Return to USA

Leave your bags outside your door, and the porters will transfer them on to our transfer to the airport for your return flight(s) home. Enjoy an early breakfast, and then you will say farewell to friends and a pilgrimage that will last in your memory for years to come. Transfer to the Airport where porters will meet you upon arrival to take your bags to the Check-In desk, and then Baggage Registration. Board your plane for a return flight home.
