Itinerary

Day 1 | Tuesday, March 10: City of origin – Buenos Aires

The pilgrimage begins with a gathering of faithful at their city of origin, united by a common purpose to deepen their connection with God and the saints. The journey to Buenos Aires is filled with prayer and anticipation, as pilgrims prepare to explore a city rich in Catholic history. Upon arrival, the group embarks on a city tour that includes visits to sacred sites, offering an opportunity to pray and reflect. These sites, steeped in religious significance, provide a fitting start to the spiritual journey. The day concludes with accommodation in Buenos Aires, where pilgrims can rest and prepare for the days of devotion ahead.

Day 2 | Wednesday, March 11: Buenos Aires

The second day starts with an early departure to the Cathedral of Lujan after breakfast. This cathedral, a significant place of Catholic worship, houses the revered image of Our Lady of Lujan, a focal point for prayer and veneration. The Mass at the cathedral offers a profound communal prayer experience, connecting the group with the local Catholic community. Later, the journey continues to Estancia Santa Susana, showcasing Argentina’s cultural heritage through a traditional dance show. This cultural interlude provides a relaxing balance to the day’s spiritual activities. The day ends with a return to the accommodation, allowing time for personal prayer and reflection.

Day 3 | Thursday, March 12: Buenos Aires - Iguazu

Day three marks a transition, both in location and spiritual experience. After breakfast, the pilgrims head to the airport for a flight to Iguazú. The visit to the Argentine side of the Iguazú Falls offers an opportunity to marvel at God’s creation, a reminder of His greatness and power. The group takes a train to the Garganta del Diablo, a spectacular viewpoint to appreciate the falls’ grandeur. In the evening, after settling into their new accommodation on the Brazilian side, the group gathers for a Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral, a time for communal worship and thanksgiving.

Day 4 | Friday, March 13: Iguazu

The fourth day combines history with spirituality. The pilgrims visit the Ruins of San Ignacio in Posadas, Argentina, after breakfast. These ruins are a significant historical site, representing the Jesuit missions’ influence in spreading Christianity in South America. This visit is an opportunity to connect with the early missionaries’ endeavors. The group then travels to the Ruins of Encarnación in Paraguay, another site of Jesuit heritage. These visits provide a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith’s roots in the region. The day concludes with a return to the hotel for rest and personal reflection.

Day 5 | Saturday, March 14: Iguazu – Porto Alegre

On day five, the pilgrimage moves towards Porto Alegre in southern Brazil. After breakfast and a flight from Iguazú, the group arrives in Porto Alegre, known for its unique gaucho culture. The evening is spent enjoying a typical gaucho dinner with a cultural show, offering an insight into local traditions. This cultural experience enriches the pilgrimage, adding a dimension of local heritage to the spiritual journey. The day ends with accommodation in Porto Alegre, providing a comfortable setting for rest and reflection.

Day 6 | Sunday, March 15: Porto Alegre

The sixth day starts with a journey to São Leopoldo after breakfast. The focus of the day is a visit to the University of Valle de los Sinos – Unisinos, an important educational institution in the region. This visit is an opportunity to engage with the intersection of faith and education, understanding how Catholic values are integrated into academic life in Brazil. The day provides a more contemplative pace, allowing pilgrims to internalize their experiences from the pilgrimage. Returning to Porto Alegre for accommodation, the pilgrims have time for personal prayer and to strengthen their communal bonds in faith.
