The Story:
The Shrine of Our Lady of Divine Love (Santuario della Madonna del Divino Amore) is a shrine to the Blessed Virgin Mary created in the 1700s. In 1999 Pope John Paul II added the sanctuary to the Seven Pilgrim Churches of Rome and a new sanctuary to honor the Madonna and beautiful park were commissioned. The medieval fresco, “Santa Maria del Divino Amor” depicts the Virgin Mary with a young Jesus in her arms beneath a flying dove representing the Holy Spirit. This painting is a stunning depiction of the Blessed Mother which captivates thousands of Pilgrims each year.
