Pope Leo XIV has announced that the next World Youth Day will be held on August 3 – 8, 2027 in Seoul, South Korea

World Youth Day is a highly anticipated event which is held every 2-4 years. It is geared primarily towards teens and young adults (ages 18-35), but pilgrims of all ages are welcome to attend. World Youth Day was initiated by Pope Saint John Paul II. Since then it has touched the hearts of millions across the globe, strengthening the faith of the next generation. The theme for WYD in 2027 will be “Jesus is Our Hope” similar to the theme of the current Jubilee Year: “Pilgrims of Hope”.

The first missionaries to South Korea are believed to have arrived sometime around the year 1593. Korea’s Catholic history has been long and complex, including an intense century-long persecution that resulted in many martyrs for the faith. Today, the faith is thriving in South Korea. There have been a significant number of new converts in the past twenty years, making Catholicism the country’s largest religious population. World Youth Day is always a great blessing to the host country. This event, in the country’s capital of Seoul, will continue to strengthen the country’s faith as millions of young people attend to worship and praise God.

One of the highlights of World Youth Day is the attendance of the Holy Father. As the newly elected Pontiff, this will be Pope Leo XIV’s first World Youth Day. There is great anticipation as the youth of the world prepare to welcome their new Holy Father.

This is your opportunity to join millions of young people to worship and praise God. Our 206 Tours team will be there every step of the way to ensure it is a safe, fulfilling, and unforgettable experience. Do not miss out on the opportunity to be present at this historic event!
