St. Gerard Majella Pilgrimage
The Story:
St. Gerard Majella, C.Ss.R. was an Italian brother of the Congregation of the Redeemer, the order dedicated to preaching the word of God to the poor. The young faced saint was a man of all trades; he was a gardener, tailor, carpenter, cook, and more. He was very close to those in poverty and is known for saying, “The most Blessed Sacrament is Christ made invisible. The poor sick person is Christ again made visible” and “I see in my neighbor the Person of Jesus Christ”. St. Gerard Majella is the Patron Saint of unborn children, childbirth, and expectant mothers, and his feast day is October 16th. He died of tuberculosis at just 29 years old, and left a note that said “Here the will of God is done, as God wills, and as long as God wills.” The Sanctuary of San Gerardo Maiella in Materdomini was dedicated to him.
