Itinerary

Day 1 | Monday, May 11: Depart for Rome

Make your way to your local airport, where you will board your overnight flight(s). Your meals will be served on board.

Day 2 | Tuesday, May 12: Rome Airport – Rome

Welcome to Rome, also known as, “The Eternal City”. Upon arrival at Rome airport, collect your luggage in the baggage claim area and continue to the Arrivals Hall, where you will be greeted by a tour escort and/or driver. You will make your way to the bus and transfer to your hotel. Following check-in, this afternoon, your group will meet in the hotel lobby and depart for Mass. After Mass you will attend a welcome dinner before overnight in your hotel.

Day 3 | Wednesday, May 13: Rome: Papal Audience, Saint Mary Major, Saint John the Lateran, Scala Santa

After breakfast, you will attend the Papal Audience. After a group lunch at a restaurant, we will visit St. Mary Major, which reigns as the only Basilica that has kept its original structure and is an authentic jewel in the crown of Roman Churches. This Basilica contains a relic from the Manger of the Infant Jesus. Then visit the oldest of the four major Basilicas in Rome, and the home to the relics of Peter and Paul, the Basilica of St. John the Lateran. This Basilica is where The Pope was installed as Bishop of Rome. Next, you will cross the street to visit the Holy Stairs. These Holy Stairs are the very steps leading up to the praetorium of Pontius Pilate in Jerusalem on which Jesus stepped on his way to trial during his Passion. The Stairs were brought to Rome by Saint Helena in the fourth century. Ascending these stairs on your knees, in memory of Christ’s agonizing Passion. Dinner on your own and overnight in Rome.

Day 4 | Thursday, May 14: Rome: Church of the Gesu, Saint Ignatius Loyola Church, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, Trevi, Spanish Steps

This morning, after breakfast at your hotel you will tour some of the Jesuit-related sites in Rome, the Church of the Gesu and the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola. After lunch on your own, you will tour the Spanish Quarter of Rome, including the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, the Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps. Dinner on your own and overnight in your hotel.

Day 5 | Friday, May 15: Rome: Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel

Today we will visit the Vatican Museum, where you can see the Tapestry Gallery, Raphael Rooms, and Sistine Chapel. After a group lunch, enjoy free time to explore the city before dinner and overnight in Rome.

Day 6 | Saturday, May 16: Rome – Castel Gandolfo

This morning, after breakfast you will visit the Catacombs and the Major Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. After lunch on your own, you will transfer to Castel Gandolfo. Dinner and overnight in Castel Gandolfo.

Day 7 | Sunday, May 17: Castel Gandolfo

After breakfast you will tour the Papal Palace and the Villa Barberini Gardens. After lunch on your own, you’ll have time to explore the beautiful town of Castel Gandolfo before dinner on your own and overnight.

Day 8 | Monday, May 18: Castel Gandolfo

This morning after breakfast in your hotel you will proceed to the Vatican Observatory in Castel Gandolfo. After lunch on your own, continue to tour the observatory and meet with the staff. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight in your hotel.

Day 9 | Tuesday, May 19: Rome Airport Departure

After breakfast we will depart for the Rome Airport. Departure flights. Return back with the best memories.
