The Four Elements Hotel Amsterdam uses gravity, wind and sunlight to form a natural air conditioning system. It is the first hotel in the world to do so. The concept of transforming the building into a ‘climate machine’ is based on the natural ventilation system found in termite mounds.
This concept is the brainchild of Dr. Bronsema and is the backbone of the hotel: providing fresh air, heating, cooling and energy, with excess thermal energy being stored underground.
Breakfast, lunch and diner is served in the Herbs Garden Restaurant. All meals are prepared with local products. Guest can enjoy a drink in the Windy Sky Bar with lake views. Down to earth aesthetics are graced by unique small-space design, calming neutral colours and clear lines. Each room features a desk, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with shower. All selected materials are reclaimed or recycled and allergy-free tested including the linen. A set of eco bio cosmetics in every bathroom awaits our guests. The salvaged timber floors are ideal for barefoot walking and daydreaming.

Our double lake/harbor view room will provide you with the best view of Amsterdam. While the chefs might be the stars of restaurants these days, it’s the equally ‘gram-worthy interiors that always set the stage.
You’re essentially dining in an elegant greenhouse when you take a table at Restaurant FIVE, which serves up seasonal farm to table dishes that combine rustic Dutch fare with Mediterranean influences. The restaurant is a greenhouse, and a garden oasis all in one, decked out with a mix of industrial and earthy materials.
Enjoy a delicious dinner in the stylish restaurant, with its open kitchen and fantastic view of the harbor of IJburg.
The menu is always changing, lining up with the very specifics of the season and whatever great produce is being harvested from local farmers and purveyors.
Restaurant FIVE offers a unique dining experiences in Amsterdam, and is captained by the tasteful mind of chef Patrick Tentij.
Our cuisine is about recognizable and pure flavors, about combinations and preparations that will surprise you. The menu changes almost constantly, in line with what the market has to offer. We like your kids to enjoy our creations, but of course have a separate kids menu if needed.
