We then continue on to Fatima, the place where the Blessed Mother appeared in 1917 to three simple shepherd children and exhorted mankind to pray for world peace.  Dinner and overnight in Fatima.

Day 4 - Fatima
Six times from May 13 to Oct 13, 1917, the Virgin Mary appeared to three novices belonging to the diocese of Leiria.  A new church has been constructed, however just as beautiful, an older church was constructed here in 1928, and millions of pilgrims visit each year. Fatima is  one of the most visited holy places for Catholics from around the world. The atmosphere of intense spirituality and the importance of Fatima have been attested to by the visits of two Popes: Paul VI and John Paul II.  Touring Fatima, see the  Little Chapel of the Apparitions, Basilica, the site of Francesco and Jacinta's graves, the Hamlet of Aljustrel, where the children lived, and Valinhos, the site of Our Lady's appearance after the children's return from prison. Follow the Stations of the Cross along the Via Sacra (The Sacred Way) culminating in the Chapel of Calvary, which overlooks all of Fatima. Join pilgrims from around the world in an evening candlelight procession.

Day 5 - Fatima - Alba de Tormes - Salamanca
After breakfast depart for Salamanca. On the way we stop in Alba de Tormes, where St. Teresa of Avila is buried. Arrive in Salamanca with free time for exploration before dinner and overnight.

Day 6 - Salamanca - Avila - Burgos
After breakfast we depart for Avila. Here atmosphere has changed very little since the days of St. Teresa of Jesus, to whom the city is dedicated. St. Teresa the great mystic, was the first woman to be named a Doctor of the Church. In Avila we will visit: the Cathedral, which contains many of St. Teresa relics; The crypt of the Convento of La Santa, built on the site of the house where she was born, is home to the most comprehensive museum dedicated to her life, and La Encarnacion Convent, the first convent she found.  Afternoon departure to the city of Burgos, the historic capital of Old Castile. After dinner explore Burgos (on your own), and admire the magnificent limestone Cathedral.

Day 7 - Burgos - Loyola - Lourdes
After breakfast depart Burgos, heading for Lourdes, France. En route stop in Loyola, the birthplace of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits. Here, we'll see the 17th Century Basilica dedicated to St. Ignatius. Behind the sanctuary is the family home of St. Ignatius, which we'll visit during our stop. The most venerated place in this building is the room where Ignatius at age 30, was brought following his serious wounding at the Battle of Pamplona. Later we motor through the Pyrenees Mountains into Lourdes. Here, standing between the spectacular mountain-river, Gave de Pau, stands picturesque Lourdes, the birthplace of St. Bernadette to whom Our Lady appeared in 1858 near the Grotto of Massabielle. Settle into your hotel, explore before dinner, followed by a candlelight procession (every evening from Apr through Oct) before retiring for the evening.

Day 8 & 9 - Lourdes
After breakfast, our guided tour of Lourdes will include the sanctuary; the Basilica of St. Pius X, the world's largest underground church; and the baths where hundreds of miraculous cures have taken place. Enjoy a video presentation telling the story of Lourdes, and walk in the footsteps of St. Bernadette. See Boly Mill where St. Bernadette was born and the "Cachot," an abandoned prison where Bernadette's impoverished family lived. Join your prayers with those of pilgrims from around the world as you pray for the sick, drink water from the miraculous spring, pray at the Grotto and submerge yourself in the healing baths. Experience Christ's love as you walk the life-sized Stations of the Cross overlooking the holy Grotto. Kneel in the chapel built on the very rock of the Grotto in obedience to the request of the "Immaculate Conception." Attend the blessing of the sick and participate in nightly candlelight processions requested by Our Lady, and take time for private devotions. Each evening dinner and overnight at your hotel. (Candle light procession and Group Rosary every evening from April through October).

Day 10 - Lourdes - Paris - Nevers
After an early breakfast we make our way to Lourdes or Pau Airport for our short flight to Paris. Upon arrival we will visit the Sacre Coeur Basilica for Mass, time for adoration. After lunch we will depart for Nevers by way of the picturesque Loire Valley. After taking the veil in 1867, St. Bernadette lived for 12 years as a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of Nevers. At least three times during her short lifetime, she received the last Sacraments. In addition to asthma, she was gradually struck by other illnesses, among them was tuberculosis of the lung and a tubercular tumor in her right knee. St. Bernadette eventually died at the age of 35. See St. Bernadette's incorrupt body at the convent of St. Gildard, miraculously preserved since her death in 1879. Dinner and overnight in Nevers.

Day 11 – Nevers – Paris
After breakfast Mass at Saint Gildard Convent . After Mass we will depart to Paris. After lunch we will view the incorrupt body of St. Catherine Labouret whose guardian angel led her to the chapel where the Blessed Virgin displayed a vision of the miraculous medal and later the green scapular. The Virgin promised bountiful graces for all who wore these. Next we depart on our sightseeing tour which includes the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Eiffel Tower, L'Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Elysees and the Louvre. Enjoy other sights on this mostly panoramic tour. We enjoy a lovely dinner before returning to our hotel.

Day 12 - Excursion to Lisieux, St. Therese the Little Flower

While in Lisieux we will celebrate Mass will be celebrated. About Fatima:
The Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima is one of most famous Marian shrines in the world. Drawn by apparitions of the Virgin Mary to three local shepherd children in 1917. Four million people visit Fatima each year. The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to shepherd children on the 13th day of six consecutive months in 1917, starting on May 13th until October 13th. The events at Fatima gained particular fame due to their elements of prophecy and eschatology, particularly with regard to possible world war and the conversion of Russia.

About Spain:
Saint Teresa and Saint Ingatius both hailed from Spain. Saint Teresa of Ávila, also called Saint Teresa of Jesus, was a prominent Spanish mystic, Carmelite nun, and writer. Lourdes is the birthplace of St Bernadette to whom Our Lady appeared in 1858 near the Grotto of Massabielle. Our pilgrimage and tour of Lourdes includes visits to the sanctuary and the Basilica of St Pius X, the world's largest underground church. Drink from the spring that the Virgin directed Bernadette to locate at the base of the grotto, which has flowed uninterrupted since 1858. Wash yourself in the baths where hundreds of miraculous cures have taken place. Contemplate Christ's Passion as you pray the unique three-dimensional Stations of the Cross. Attend the blessing of the sick, and participate in nightly candlelight processions requested by Our Lady. Daily Mass, and Mass at the Grotto on Sunday will be followed by a video presentation telling the miraculous story of Lourdes. Visit Lourdes and experience a spiritual journey from which many have claimed healing and conversion.

About Medjugorje:
On June 25, 1981, in the mountain village of Medjugorje in Herzegovina, Our Lady allegedly appeared to six children. She identified herself as the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace, and continues to allegedly appear to several of the visionaries. Her mission is to promote peace with God and mankind, through her Son, Jesus. Mary's own words to the children explained, "I have come to tell the world that God exists." 206 Tours has been arranging pilgrimages to Medjugorje since 1985. A Special Client Letter about this amazing Pilgrimage:

From: Mary Cusack
Date:08/29/2014 5:44 PM
To: Donna Strucic, Milanka Lachman
Subject: Pilgrimage to Fatima, Spain, Lourdes & Paris: August 4-15, 2014.

Dear Milanka and Donna,

This was my first pilgrimage out of the USA and I was unsure which company to travel with but knew I wanted to travel with a Catholic group and attend daily Mass - I had no other expectation but traveled with an open mind and heart. The experience with 206tours was life changing, faith affirming. At each site, I was reminded that our Catholic faith is rich in history, celebrated universally and unmatched by any other. It was a blessing to be called to join other special pilgrims to Fatima, Spain, Lourdes and Paris.

We were a small group who prayed together, for each other, in daily private Masses led by Fr Jay Harrington, a learned man who greeted each of us with humility and kindness, in some of the most sacred chapels and Basilicas. He taught us simple prayers. His daily meditations were to the point yet profound. In every sense of the word, Fr Jay is a man of God, who helps heal souls and hearts.

Our escort, Javier Gomez, is phenomenal. His knowledge of the historical significance of each sacred site we visited is exhausting and far-reaching. My faith is enriched by the passion, reverence, joy and humor he brought with each explanation. Javier is generous, quick to share his favorite places for lunch, lunch on a river and Spanish hot chocolate!

My more memorable experiences include:
• Santarem, Portugal – site of the oldest Eucharistic miracle
• Fatima, Portugal – attending Mass at the Chapel of Apparitions where Fr Jay offered Mass and where I was honored to lead a decade of the rosary with him; leaving personal intentions with Our Lady in the Chapel
• Loyola, Spain - the birthplace of St. Ignatius, attending a private memorial Mass for my husband led by Fr Jay in the Chapel of Conversion, in St. Ignatius’ family home. I asked Javier if I could purchase flowers for the altar – a simple request I thought – which turned out to be more demanding that I realized. Javier was unstoppable in his efforts to secure the flowers – which he did - after finally calling ahead to our next hotel and negotiating with the hotel to secure the flowers from the local florist even though the florist was closed – Javier continually repeated, “nothing is impossible”.
• Lourdes, France – Singing in the international choir during the Healing Service in the Basilica of St. Pius X (Underground Basilica part of Sanctuary of Our Lady) and again during the evening candle-light rosary procession at the Rosary Basilica where I was honored to read a meditation for a decade of the rosary.
• Lisieux, France – attending private Mass led by Fr. Jay at the Basilica of St Therese the Little Flower. It was here on the Feast of St Maximillian Kolbe, the vigil of the Assumption, that Fr. Jay consecrated me and two other women in our group to Our Lady as we completed our Marian Consecration in accordance with “33 Days to Morning Glory” (Fr. Michael Gaitley’s book).

Although this sounds like a cliché, truly there are no words to describe this pilgrimage and the people I have come to love. It was surreal. I am thankful for my journey, meeting new friends looking to renew their faith and the kindness and generosity of Fr. Jay and Javier. I hope to see my new friends on another pilgrimage.

God’s peace and blessings,
Mary Cusack
