Depart for Prague
Make your way to your local airport where you will board your overnight flight(s). Your meals will be served on board.
Welcome to Prague! Upon arrival you will collect your luggage in the baggage claim area, and continue to the Arrival’s Hall where you will be greeted by a tour guide and/or driver. Make your way to the Bus where your group will transfer to your hotel. Later enjoy dinner at your hotel in Prague. Overnight in Prague.
Breakfast at your hotel. Today will be spent getting acquainted with the magnificent city of Prague, which is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque cities in the world. Visit Prague’s castle district, Hradcany where we start with visit to Loreto Shrine (entrance fee included) then we visit the Royal castle area – the former residence of the Czech kings and the seat of Czechoslovakia' presidents since 1918. Our sightseeing today includes visits to the Old Royal Palace, St Vitus Cathedral, St George Basilica and the Golden Lane. We continue on to Mala Strana where we visit the Church of Our Lady Victorious famous for the statue of Infant Jesus of Prague. Mass at Shrine. Lunch on your own. Afterward, we’ll cross the Charles Bridge to visit the Old Town, which is considered to be one of the best historical city centers in Europe. Visit the Old Town Square, see the Town Hall with its famous Astronomical Clock which comes alive when the hour strikes and the twelve disciples appear to bless the crowd. Visit the Church of Our Lady before Tyn to see the statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Prague - Salzburg
Breakfast at your hotel. Afterward, depart Prague for Salzburg. Enroute, we’ll visit Cesky Krulov, crowned by a spectacular castle we will see baroque buildings, the Vltava River and its lovely café’s and bars. You’ll have the opportunity to have lunch here on your own. Later we will continue to Prahatlice where we see the birth place of St John Neopomuk and celebrate Mass at the local church there. Continuing on to Salzburg, we will enjoy the ride until we reach our hotel for dinner and overnight.
Salzburg - Nuremberg
Breakfast at your hotel. Mass at Mariaplain Shrine. We’ll enjoy a short guided tour of Salzburg’s sights along Getreidegasse, the city’s pedestrian street, lined with authentic 17th and 18th century buildings including the house where Mozart was born. Built into the side of Monchsberg is the Salzburg Festspielhaus, home of the famous Salzburg Festival Operas. See Residenzplatz, the center square of Salzburg, dominated by the dynamic sculpture of the Residenzbrunnen, the largest Baroque fountain north of the Alps. Visit St. Peter’s Abbey, next to the cemetery portrayed in the film "The Sound of Music" and where most of Mozart’s religious works are premiered. After lunch on your own, depart for Nuremberg, where you will board your river cruise ship for the next seven days! This evening, meet your fellow passengers at the Welcome Dinner. Your cruise ship will moor overnight in Nuremberg.
You have two excursion options today. Take a tour of the city’s medieval highlights, including Nuremberg Castle, the 900-year-old ramparts surrounding the city, Town Hall, Notre Dame and the house of artist Albrecht Dürer, or join a WWII tour and see the Coliseum, Nazi Parade Ground and Justice Palace. Later, the ship cruises the Main-Danube Canal to Regensburg.
This morning’s scenic cruising brings you into the final stretch of the Main-Danube Canal enroute to Regensburg, one of Germany’s best preserved medieval cities. A guided walking tour will show you the city’s architectural highlights, including the Old Town Hall and the Porta Praetoria, gates to an ancient Roman fort built in 179 A.D.
Passau – Linz
After breakfast, arrive in picturesque Passau, where the Inn and Ilz rivers flow into the Danube. You will have a choice of a walking tour of Passau’s Old Town, past the old city fortifications, Rathaus, Domplatz and Residenzplatz squares, as well as St. Stephen’s Cathedral, or more active guests may join either a guided bike tour along the Danube from Passau to Erlau or a guided hike up to the Veste Oberhaus fortress overlooking Passau. Return to the ship this afternoon for a scenic cruise to Linz, Austria’s third largest city and a major river port.
Melk – Vienna
Early this morning, we cruise to Melk. You have a choice between a guided tour of Melk’s magnificent Benedictine Abbey, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Europe’s largest and most revered monasteries, or a guided bike tour along the Danube. Return to the ship for lunch before cruising on through the scenic Wachau Valley. Arrive in Vienna after dinner and explore the magnificent Austrian capital on your own.
This morning, you will have a chance to savor the Baroque elegance of romantic Vienna through your choice of one of three different excursions. The first option is a panoramic tour of Vienna that guides you past the majestic Opera House, the former Imperial Palace of the Habsburg Emperors, Parliament, Town Hall and Vienna University. Afterwards, you will visit Vienna’s historic city center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and see St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Graben and the world famous Spanish Riding School. The second option is a walking tour of Vienna’s hidden treasures that takes you to secret places and sights like Ankeruhr, a whimsical Art Nouveau clock. Your third option is a guided bike tour along the Danube and through the Donaupark. This afternoon, you can join a guided bike ride to Klosterneuburg Monastery, or explore at your leisure. Be sure to sample some Viennese coffee and pastries.
Your morning excursion includes sightseeing in the cities of Buda and Pest spread over both banks of the river. You will see famed Heroes’ Square and Castle Hill, home to Fisherman’s Bastion, Matthias Church and spectacular views of the Danube. After dinner, the ship will sail a special Illuminations Cruise past the city’s glittering riverfront.
Budapest – End of Cruise and Disembarkation – Return Home
